SMORGASBORD
Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church
Sunday, September 20, 2015
12:00 Noon
Across Scandinavia, the closing weeks of summer are celebrated with special foods and musical traditions. In Sweden and in Finland, there is a strong affinity for crayfish. The Swedish artist Carl Larsson captured his love for this summer meal in his painting “Crayfishing.”
On Sunday, September 20th at 12:00 noon, Lake of the Isles Lutheran Church will host our first fall Scandinavian Smorgasbord with tribute to the crayfish. In addition to the usual buffet, prepared by LOTI member, Swedish born and trained chef Anna-Lena Sköld, the meal will begin with crayfish and quiche.   Before emigrating from Sweden in 1995, Chef Sköld studied at the culinary school in Göteborg and worked in numerous restaurants in the ski resorts of northern Sweden. She also opened her own restaurant on the island of Öland in the Baltic.
The $27 per person (the cost for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old is $12.50, under 5 is free) the all inclusive brunch includes the following menu:
