Second Sunday in Advent 2019 ~ Lessons & Carols

December 8, 2019 | 9:30 am
Place : Sanctuary
In  December 1918, only weeks after the end of World War I, the war to end all wars, Eric Milner-White, the Dean of King’s College, Cambridge, penned the worship service which is known as the Festival Service of Lessons Carols. Milner-White served as a chaplain in the British Army in the trenches of World War I, and knew the tragedies of war.  Having experienced the horrors, he wanted to comfort his fellow soldiers with a simple retelling of the prophecies of the Old Testament and the promise and hope of the Christmas gospel.
Harpist Andrea Stern, along with trumpeter Benjamin Alle and the LOTI Church Choir will lead the congregation in a Festival Service of Lessons and Carols.  This year’s worship service will feature carols and melodies including A Carol from an Irish Cabin, Suo Gan A Welsh Lullaby and a Caribbean melody,  Da Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.

The worship service will be followed by the annual Christmas Tea.
